Terms of Service
These terms apply when you use the PrepCode desktop app and the prepcode.dev website, both made by Meikural. By using them you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use them.
1. Using PrepCode
PrepCode is a desktop code editor for students. You may use it for learning, practice and building your own programs. You are responsible for the device you run it on and for following the rules of your school, college or workplace when you use it, including any exam or assessment rules.
2. Your account
You can use PrepCode as a guest or sign in with GitHub. If you sign in, you are responsible for your GitHub account and for activity under it. Your use of GitHub is also subject to GitHub’s own terms.
3. Your content
You own the programs and files you create. We don’t claim any rights over them. You are responsible for what you write and, if you use Sync, for what you publish. Synced programs go into a public repository on your GitHub account, so don’t include anything you don’t want others to see or that you don’t have the right to share.
4. Acceptable use
Please don’t use PrepCode or this website to:
- break the law or anyone’s rights;
- write, run or distribute malware, or attack others’ systems or services;
- cheat on exams or assessments, or help others to do so;
- interfere with the services PrepCode relies on, such as GitHub or our databases, or try to access data that isn’t yours;
- copy our practice questions or job listings in bulk to republish them.
5. The software and open source
The PrepCode software is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPL-3.0). That licence, not these terms, governs your right to copy, modify and share the source code. The PrepCode name and logo, the content of our practice questions and the text and design of this website belong to Meikural, and the GPL-3.0 does not give you rights over them.
6. Practice questions and job listings
Practice questions are provided to help you prepare, and we don’t promise that they match any real interview or test. Job listings come from public search results and link to the employers’ own pages. We don’t employ or recommend any employer and aren’t responsible for any application, offer or hiring decision.
7. Third-party services
PrepCode works with services such as GitHub, Sentry and Supabase. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their availability or their policies. See our Privacy Policy for how they are used.
8. Updates and changes
PrepCode can update itself, and we may change, add or remove features at any time. PrepCode is free for students today. Plans for colleges are described on the pricing page and may have their own terms when they launch.
9. No warranty
PrepCode and this website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation. You should keep your own backups of your work.
10. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Meikural isn’t liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, including lost data, lost work or lost opportunities, arising from your use of PrepCode or this website. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using PrepCode at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end access to our services if these terms are broken. Sections that by their nature should continue after that, such as ownership and the limits on liability, will continue.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we do, we’ll change the date at the top, and if a change is significant we’ll say so in the app or on the website. Using PrepCode after a change means you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India.
